Samsung Galaxy Note 6: Is It Worth The Wait?

The smartphone space is filled with rumors of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6. Given the success of the previous models in the Note series, the Galaxy Note 6 is one of the most awaited mobile phones of the year.
With so much hype surrounding the upcoming Samsung phablet, the question arises: is the Galaxy Note 6 worth the wait?
Here's a comparison of what the
Galaxy Note 5 has to offer and the rumored specs of the Galaxy Note 6.
Screen
The Galaxy Note 5 sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen with a display resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.
Rumors suggest that the Galaxy Note 6 will sport a slightly bigger 5.8-inch slim RGB AMOLED screen and will pack the same pixels as the Galaxy Note 5.
Processor And RAM
An octa-core Exynos 7 processor clocked at 2.1 GHz and 4 GB of RAM powers the Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S7 in two models: one running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and the other on Exynos 8 Octa 8890 chipset. Rumors claim that the Galaxy Note 6 may also be available in two models: one running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor and the other on an Exynos processor.
The Galaxy Note 6 could be one of the first handsets to get 6 GB of RAM.
Storage
The Galaxy Note 5 is available with 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB internal storage options. Phablet enthusiasts were left disappointed as the Samsung offering did not have a microSD card slot for expanding the storage.
The Galaxy Note 6 may come with 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB onboard storage and probably with a microSD card support.
Camera
The Galaxy Note 5 is equipped with a 16-megapixel (F/1.9 lens) rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel (F/1.9) front-facing camera.
Rumors hint that the Galaxy Note 6 may get a 12-megapixel (F/1.7 lens) camera and a 5-megapixel selfies camera.
Apple launched the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus and these handsets were the first to get Live Photos, which has attracted many smartphone enthusiasts. Samsung may launch a similar feature with the Galaxy Note 6.
Operating System
The Galaxy Note 5 comes running on Android 5.1 Lollipop but many carriers have rolled out Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the phablet.
The Galaxy Note 6 may launch with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box as it is unlikely that Google will release its next operating system, dubbed Android N, before the launch of Galaxy Note 6, which is expected in August.
However, it is also likely that the Galaxy Note 6 will be among the first Samsung devices to receive the new software update when it is released.
Retina And Fingerprint Scanner
The Galaxy Note 5 comes with a fingerprint scanner but it does not have a retina scanner. Rumors are circling that Samsung will use both an advanced fingerprint sensor and a retina scanner in the Galaxy Note 6.
Water And Dust Resistance
The Galaxy Note 5 is not dust or water resistant. Speculations are rife that the Galaxy Note 6 will be IP68 certified, which means that the phablet will be fully dust resistant and water proof in 1.5-meter water for 30 minutes.
The Galaxy Note 6 will be a significant upgrade to its predecessor. Samsung may take another two to three months before the phablet is officially released. Customers will have to wait longer and given the anticipated specs of the Galaxy Note 6, the phablet is worth the wait.
